Maxfield's two-year-old daughter My Lady Jbella broke her maiden going one mile on the turf at Colonial Downs on Thursday, August 28th, becoming the ninth winner for her exciting freshman sire.
Off as the even-money favorite in the field of nine, My Lady Jbella broke sharply and saved ground along the rail in third throughout the early stages, began to move up around the turn, switched to the outside at the top of the stretch and ran down the leader before pulling away to win by two lengths.
Bred in Kentucky by Haymarket Farm, My Lady Jbella is the sixth foal out of her dam, the Smart Strike mare Lady of Kyushu, who was a Listed winner and multiple Group-placed in France and is a half-sister to G3 winner Star Fortress (IRE) and to G2 winner and G1-placed Lake Forest (GB).
Maxfield's eight other winners include recent Saratoga debut winner and 'TDN Rising Star' Five Bars, Lilies N Paradise, debut winner at Churchill Downs (and now Stakes-placed at Delaware Park), Max Ciao, a six-and-a-quarter-length victor at Del Mar, Rock It Rob, a wire-to-wire debut winner at Saratoga, Max Vegas, a debut winner at Canterbury Park, and Just Asap, a seven-length debut winner at Ellis Park.
