Odds-on favorite Mashallah pressed Vekoma's Diva through a swift opening quarter-mile, wore her down nearing the quarter pole and drew off to a five-length win in the $225,000 G3 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The three-year-old Maxfield filly notched her first Graded Stakes victory in the Prioress and improved her record to four wins in five starts. She’s now a two-time Stakes winner, having captured the Tyson Gilpin Stakes at Colonial Downs in her previous start.
Settled behind early pacesetter Vekoma's Diva through an opening quarter in :22.69, the Brendan Walsh trainee took over with ease approaching the quarter pole. In the stretch, the favorite drew away from rivals, scoring by a five-length margin over Mythical. Hen Party rounded out the trifecta.
Mashallah was bred in Kentucky by Taylor Made Stallions Inc., Louis Brooks Ranch Ltd., and Baysore Stables, et al, and was purchased by her current connections, JR Ranch, for $1.25 million at the 2025 OBS March sale of two-year-olds in training. She is out of the winning Quiet American mare, All in With Aces, and is a half sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner Hard Aces (by Hard Spun), winner of the G1 Gold Cup at Santa Anita, and to multiple Stakes winner and Graded Stakes-placed Astrollinthepark (by Divine Park).
Mashallah joins Englishman as the second Graded Stakes winner of the 2026 Saratoga meet for her sire, Maxfield. Englishman is now a two-time G1 winner, having captured the G1 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes and the G1 Woody Stephens Stakes, both at the Spa. Maxfield is also represented by G3 Indiana Oaks winner Maximum Offer and Sabino Canyon, winner of the Petramalo Mile.
