W W Star took the lead at the top of the stretch and held sway over Turnin Up Aces in the final furlong to earn a three-quarter length victory in a maiden special weight contest at Fairmount Park on Oct. 25, becoming the 16th winner for his freshman sire, Maxfield.
After finishing a close second in his debut over this same strip on Sept. 30, W W Star battled Turnin Up Aces for the lead through the early stages of the race. Taking command at the top of the stretch, the bay colt held sway over his rival through the final furlong to win by three-quarters of a length.
W W Star was bred in Kentucky by Columbiana Farm and is out of the Dixie Union mare, Revered. He is a half-brother to By Your Side (Constitution), winner of the G3 Sanford Stakes and to Highly Respected (Dialed In), who was second in the G3 Bay Shore.
In addition to W W Star, Maxfield's other first-crop winners include his most recent TDN Rising Star, Englishman; Max Ciao, winner of the I’m Smokin Stakes at Del Mar; Saratoga debut winners Five Bars (recently third in the G1 Frizette), Boomington and Rock It Rob; recent Keeneland winners Tingus Pingus and Lady Valor, and recent Santa Anita maiden winner, Cosmic Heat.
Maxfield will stand the 2026 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $50,000, stands and nurses.
