Out Of Bounds first Graded winner for Discreet Cat

Colt posts powerful victory in G3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita

Discreet Cat sired his first Graded Stakes winner January 7 and boy was it impressive as Out Of Bounds put forth a smashing victory in the G3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita. The three-year-old colt, who broke his maiden December 10 at Hollywood, defeated a strong group of competitors that included Breeders' Cup winner Secret Circle.

Posting a second victory in a row, Out Of Bounds settled in fourth on the inside rail to start the one mile race under jockey Garrett Gomez. In the upper stretch he was forced to swing wide to find room and put forward an absolutely determined run in the final stretch to rally for the win. After the race jockey Garrett Gomez stated, "He's just getting better every time they run him. It's always exciting to see a son of Discreet Cat win, he was one of my favorites." The final time for the race was 1:34.56.

Trained by Eoin Harty, Out Of Bounds certainly comes by his talent honest with a great pedigree as he is out of G1 Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Unbridled Elaine, a half-sister to G1 winner Glitter Woman. The colt is a half-brother to Graded Stakes winner Etched and was bred by Darley.

The day has been great for Discreet Cat with Out Of Bounds becoming the sire's first Graded Stakes winner from his first crop of runners. His son Discreet Dancer stayed perfect as he posted a five and one-half length Allowance victory at Gulfstream January 7, after breaking a track record in his debut in early December. In 2011 he sired smart juveniles in both the US and Japan. He stands for $12,500 in 2012.
