G3 winner Debt Ceiling dominates third Stakes victory

Discreet Cat juvenile wins First State Dash Stakes

Showcasing his talent early on, two-year-old Debt Ceiling dominated his third Stakes race September 14 going gate-to-wire in the First State Dash Stakes at Delaware Park.

As the heavy favorite in the five-and-one-half-furlong race, the Discreet Cat colt broke well and went right to the lead. Further taking command in the stretch, there was no stopping the colt and he cruised to a five-length victory.

This is the fourth win in five starts for the two-year-old. A winner on debut, Debt Ceiling followed that score with a win in Pimlico's Rollicking Stakes in May. He then set his sights on the G3 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs, where he proved a clear winner June 29.

Debt Ceiling was bred by Brandywine Farm and is out of the Stakes winner Top Marks, who has also produced Stakes-placed Dean's List, by former Darley stallion Holy Bull. The colt's second dam is Stakes winner Top Princess.

Among America's leading sires of Stakes winners in 2013, Discreet Cat has been represented by a number of top runners. His daughter Discreet Marq handily won the G1 Del Mar Oaks on the turf in August. He is also the sire of talented G2 winner and G1-placed Discreet Dancer and dual Graded Stakes winner Sage Valley, among numerous others.
