Discreet Marq wires G2 Sands Point Stakes

New Graded Stakes winner for Discreet Cat

Three-year-old Discreet Cat filly Discreet Marq was certainly "on the marq" May 27 with a victory in the G2 Sands Point Stakes on the Belmont turf.

In the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race Discreet Marq took command out of the gate and set the pace. With three furlongs to go the filly was challenged, but powered on at the top of the stretch for the wire-to-wire score.

A winner of the Lie Low Stakes at Aqueduct in November, Discreet Marq is out of the multiple Stakes winner and Graded-placed mare To Marquet, who has also produced Stakes horses Marquet Cat and Marquet Madness. The filly was bred by Patricia Generazio.

Discreet Marq becomes the fifth Graded Stakes winner for Discreet Cat, who has also sired such Graded Stakes winners as G2 winner and G1-placed Discreet Dancer. The sire was represented by a tremendous day May 18 at Pimlico as his son Sage Valley impressed in the G3 Maryland Sprint Handicap and juvenile Debt Ceiling stayed perfect to dominate the Rollicking Stakes.
