Discreet Marq on target in G1 Del Mar Oaks

Second Graded Stakes win for Discreet Cat filly

Discreet Cat's three-year-old daughter Discreet Marq was nothing short of superb August 17 with a win in the G1 Del Mar Oaks. It was the third victory in a row for the filly, who wired the G2 Sands Point Stakes at Belmont, before following that effort with an impressive score in the Eventail Stakes at Belmont.

In the one-and-one-eighth-mile turf race, Discreet Marq was in behind the pace in third during the early stages. She made her run and took on the leaders at the top of the lane before cruising in the stretch to impress with the win.

Bred by Patricia Generazio, the consistent Discreet Marq has been on the board in eight of ten career starts, among them seven Stakes events. She is out of the mutiple Stakes winner and Graded-placed mare To Marquet, also the dam of Stakes horses Marquet Cat and Marquet Madness.

Discreet Marq is the first G1 winner for her young sire Discreet Cat, whose exciting resumé at stud includes six Graded Stakes winners to date from all three crops to race. Among four Graded Stakes winners from his first crop is G2 winner and G1-placed Discreet Dancer. In 2013 he has also been represented by two-year-old G3 Bashford Manor Stakes winner Debt Ceiling.
