Discreet Cat colt pounces to victory

Second winner takes debut at Churchill Downs

Making his racing debut, two-year-old colt Kinnikonick became the second winner for freshman sire Discreet Cat in a maiden event at Churchill Downs July 2. Breaking to the front, Kinnikonick quickly set te pace on the inside. The colt accelerated when asked and remained on the lead to go wire-to-wire in the five furlong event.

Out of the Seeking the Gold mare Jurisprudence, Kinnikonick is a half-brother to G1-placed El Prado Rob. Jurisprudence is a full sister to G1 winner Secret Savings and a half-sister to G1-placed Law of the Sea. The two-year-old colt was bred in Kentucky by John Forsyth.

Discreet Cat has now sired two winners to date, as Son de America broke her maiden at Santa Anita in April. Discreet Cat was an impressive miler who was undefeated at both two and three, including equaling Easy Goer's track record win in the G1 Cigar Mile. He also traveled to Dubai to defeat Horse of the Year Invasor in the UAE Derby. Discreet Cat stands for $17,500 Stands and Nurses.
