Debut win for Qismah in Japan

Juvenile colt becomes Discreet Cat's ninth individual winner

Discreet Cat took his tally of winners to nine on Saturday September 3 when his son Qismah make a successful winning debut at Niigata in Japan. Facing 17 rivals in a field of newcomers over 1400m on turf, he won readily by one-and-a-half lengths.

Bred in Japan by Darley, he is the first foal of the Jade Robbery mare Hand Of Fate, herself a half-sister to G1-winning juvenile Balletto. From a top-class family that includes Althea, Acoma and Arch, Hand Of Fate has recently been scanned in foal to Darley's top-Australian shuttler Commands.

Qismah is one of a number of recent impressive winners for Discreet Cat. Last week Jediscreto broke his maiden by 12-lengths, while Lucky Dan and Medieval Cat both won by ten and seven lengths respectively.
