That Which Is Not impressive in winning Listed Prix Zarkava

Four-year-old filly becomes second Stakes winner of the weekend for sire Elusive Quality

That Which Is Not took the lead in the final furlong and held off the late rally of favorite Armande to win the Listed Prix Zarkava at Saint-Cloud April 2.

The ten-furlong Prix Zarkava marked the first Stakes victory for the four-year-old daughter of Elusive Quality, who was making her first start of the year. That Which Is Not became the second Stakes winner of the weekend for her sire. On Saturday, his son Enterprising captured the G2 Muniz Memorial Handicap at Fair Grounds.

Settled in mid-pack through the early stages of the race by jockey Stephane Pasquier, That Which Is Not was put under a drive once the field entered the home straight. The dark bay filly overtook the leaders with less than a furlong to run, then held off the late rally of Armande to win by a neck.

That Which Is Not was bred in Kentucky and races as a homebred for Flaxman Holdings Limited. She is out of multiple Champion Shiva (by Hector Protector), winner of the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup. Shiva is a half-sister to G1 Vodafone Epsom Oaks winner Light Shift (by Kingmambo), and is closely related to multiple Eclipse Award-winning Champion, Main Sequence.

Elusive Quality is the sire of 14 lifetime G1 winners, including such standouts as Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Australian Champion Sepoy, and Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass.

Elusive Quality is standing the 2017 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $30,000, stands and nurses.
