Tiger Moth flies home late to win the Mari Hulman George Stakes

Daughter of Street Sense earns her first Stakes victory with a determined rally

Tiger Moth put in a sustained rally in the final eighth of a mile to win the Listed Mari Hulman George Stakes at Indiana Grand Race Course July 15.

Squeezed back at the start, the daughter of Street Sense was unhurried early and settled toward the rear of the field through the first three-quarters of a mile. As the field swept through the far turn and entered the stretch, Tiger Moth began her rally, charging five-wide down the center of the course to win going away by two-and-a-half lengths.

Bred in Kentucky by her owner John D. Gunther, Tiger Moth is out of the winning Sir Cat mare, Saratoga Cat. Tiger Moth is a half-sister to millionaire Last Gunfighter, winner of the G2 Hawthorne Gold Cup and G3 Pimlico Special.

Siring 48 Stakes-performers in his stud career so far, Street Sense’s progeny are headed by the likes of G1 winners Callback, Wedding Toast, Street Fancy, and Sense of Occasion.
