Tenacious Otto the Conqueror prevails in $300,000 Remington Springboard Mile

Two-year-old Street Sense colt outduels Glengarry on way to notching first Stakes win

Otto the Conqueror and Glengarry engaged in a spirited two-horse battle throughout the entire running of the Listed Remington Springboard Mile, with Otto the Conqueror prevailing at the wire by three-quarters of a length at Remington Park on Friday, 15 Dec.

It was the third straight victory – and first Stakes win – for the two-year-old Street Sense colt, who now has won three of his four starts. The Steve Asmussen-trained colt also earned 10 qualifying points towards a start in the 2024 Kentucky Derby.

Bred in Kentucky by Hoolie Racing Stable and purchased by Three Chimneys Farm for $450,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Otto the Conqueror is out of Dream It Is (Shackleford), winner of the G3 Schuylerville Stakes and Listed My Dear Stakes. Dream It Is, in turn, is a half-sister to the Stakes-placed Just Katherine (Justify).

In addition to Otto the Conqueror, Street Sense was represented in 2023 by Graded Stakes winners Never Explain (G3 Dinner Party Stakes), Whelen Springs (G3 Philip H. Iselin) and First Mission (G3 Lexington Stakes); along with additional Stakes winners Road Bloc (Listed Jebel Ali Sprint), Baytown Chatterbox (Ellis Park Juvenile), Ichiban and Notary.

Street Sense will stand the 2024 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $60,000, stands and nurses.
