Street Sense colt sells for $340,000

Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby winner is the sire of Thursday's highest-priced colt at Keeneland

The Keeneland November Sale continued on Thursday and it was Street Sense's turn to figure in the top lots when siring the highest-priced colt of the session.

Consigned by Taylor Made on behalf of Heiligbrodt Stable, he is out of the Stakes-winning Richman mare Richbabe who is already dam of a G3 winner in Richwoman and was bought by bloodstock agent Mike Ryan for $340,000.

Speaking after the sale, Ryan said, ‘I bought him for myself. He’ll be brought back as a yearling. But he’s one I wouldn’t mind throwing the tack on him myself and racing. He was that sort. The Street Senses I’ve seen have a lot of quality to them, and it doesn’t look like you’re going to have to wait for them – they’re going to be runners at two.’

There was one weanling by Bernardini offered for sale on Thursday and the bay filly from the Overbrook Farm dispersal was knocked down to Westrock Stables LLC for $250,000. She is out of the Stakes-winning Dynaformer mare Winendynme.
