Son of Medaglia d’Oro gains well deserved Stakes win at Ascot, W.A.

Cappo d’Oro leads throughout for convincing Listed success

The reward for consistency proved to be a well-earned Stakes victory for Cappo d’Oro at Western Australia’s premier track on Saturday, 8 December.

The son of Medaglia d’Oro had finished second at his three starts leading up to the Listed Towton Cup, but there was none better in the Ascot race with Cappo d’Oro leading every step of the way.

The win made him the 119th Stakes winner for the former shuttle stallion whose best Australian progeny, Astern and Vancouver, have been among the leading performers of their generation.

Both are among their sire’s 21 G1 winners, a group headed by the outstanding mare Rachel Alexandra.

Cappo D’Oro is from the Kinjite mare Deep Time, making him a half-brother to the G1 winner No Wine No Song.
