Security Code makes winning move in Aqueduct’s $100,000 Broadway Stakes

Daughter of Frosted rallies from off the pace to notch her first Stakes victory

Security Code turned back a late challenge from Venti Valentine in the stretch to post a determined neck victory in the $100,000 Broadway Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday, 17 February.

It was the first Stakes win for the four-year-old daughter of Frosted, who has won both of her starts this year. Security Code was one of two Stakes winners for her sire on Saturday. Less than 10 minutes later, his four-year-old son, Post Time, captured his third straight Stakes with a three-length romp in the G3 General George at Laurel Park.

Confidently ridden by Jose Lezcano, Security Code sat just off the pace in third, as Kant Hurry Love and Majestic Return set the pace through the opening half-mile of the seven-furlong contest. Swung six-wide at the top of the stretch, Security Code overhauled the leaders and took the lead at the sixteenth pole, then dug in gamely to repel the late bid of Venti Valentine to get the victory.

Bred in New York by Rockridge Stud LLC, Ascendant Farms LLC and Godolphin, Security Code is one of three Stakes winners out of Stopspendingmaria, a Graded Stakes-placed daughter of Montbrook. Stopspendingmaria is also the dam of Stakes winning full siblings, Blewitt and No Mo’ Spending, both by Uncle Mo.

Frosted is the sire of three Stakes winners thus far in 2024. In addition to the Broadway winner and Post Time, he is also represented by Icicles, winner of the Likely Exchange Stakes at Turfway Park.

Frosted is standing the 2024 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $10,000, stands and nurses.
