Rusambo rushes home

New Stakes winner for Elusive Quality

Rusambo overwhelmed his rivals in the stretch to land Saturday’s Listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes over six furlongs at Melbourne’s Moonee Valley racetrack. In winning, Rusambo becomes the 78th Stakes winner for Elusive Quality. Rusambo came from well back before the home turn, coming with a powerful finish to defeat Dominant and Adjuster.

The Champion sire in North America in 2004, Elusive Quality was also the Champion sire of juveniles in Australia in 2010/11.

Bred by Darley, Rusambo is out of the Anabaa mare Lobola, who has a 2011 filly by Commands and visited Street Cry in 2012.

Elusive Quality continues to produce remarkable talent at the track. This year his major winners include the recent G1 Prix Rothschild winner Elusive Kate, the multiple Singapore Stakes winner Mr Big and the highly promising G3 winner Certify.

His progeny includes the likes of G1 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass, G1 Kentucky Derby victory Smarty Jones, and Australian Champion Sepoy, who stands his first season at Darley Kelvinside in 2012.
