Red Lodge rolls to victory in the Colleen Stakes

Daughter of Midshipman goes gate-to-wire to earn first Stakes win

Red Lodge took the lead at the start and never looked back as she rolled to an impressive three-and-a-half length victory in the Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park.

The two-year-old daughter of Midshipman was making her first start since the G2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot June 16. Red Lodge has now won two of her four career starts.

Bred in Kentucky by William J. Betz and Peter V. Lamantia, Red Lodge is out of Star Silver, an unraced daughter of Aldebaran. Star Silver's dam is Memories Of Silver, winner of the G1 Beverly D. Stakes and G1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, and she is a half-sister to Winter Memories (El Prado), winner of the G1 Diana and G1 Garden City Stakes.

Among Midshipman’s top runners are Lady Shipman, recent winner of the G3 Royal North Stakes, San Pedro Stakes winner Yiannis, Azalea Stakes winner Dearest, Riskaverse Stakes winner Stormy Regatta, Iowa Stallion Futurity winner Shipmate, and Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command
