Quiet American's Switch wins G1 La Brea

Three-year-old filly sets new stakes record to become her sire's fifth G1 winner

Quiet American's ultra-consistent three-year-old daughter Switch recorded her first victory at G1 level in scintillating fashion on December 26, romping to a four-length win in the La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita.

The track's switch back to a dirt surface didn’t seem to bother the John Sadler-trained filly as she pulled away at the top of the stretch to win in stakes record time, with the timer stopping at 1:20 1/5 - just one-fifth of a second off Spectacular Bid’s track record set in 1980.

Bred by Calumet Farm in Kentucky, Switch has now won or placed in nine of 11 starts – seven in Graded company – and now joins the elite G1 winners club. She is out of G3 winnerAntoniette, whose three other foals to race have all won, including the listed winner Keystone Gulch. This is also the family of Darley stallion Elusive Quality.

Quiet American has sired 109 career Stakes performers, including 19 Graded Stakes winners, five of which have now won at G1 level.
