Our Last Chance much the best in the Dan Johnson Sprint at Prairie Meadows

Midshipman gelding never threatened in wire-to-wire score

Our Last Chance took command right out of the starting gate and never looked back on his way to posting a one-and-three-quarter length victory in the $100,000 Dan Johnson Sprint at Prairie Meadows on Saturday, 30 September.

It was the second Stakes victory for the ultra-consistent Midshipman gelding, who captured the John Wayne Stakes over the same course in June. The win improved Our Last Chance's record to 6-3-4 in 18 career starts.

Bred in Iowa by Warren Bush and Ron Eich, Our Last Chance is out of the winning Alphabet Soup mare, Abc Me Win. Our Last Chance is a half-brother to Stakes winner and multiple Stakes-placed My Sister Madi (Haynesfield) and to Stakes-placed Dancin Nicky (Two Step Salsa). Abc Me Win herself is out of the Stakes-winning mare, Chachagua, and is a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner, Executive Choice.

Midshipman is represented this season by the talented juveniles Amidst Waves, already a two-time Stakes winner of the Listed Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga and the Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park, and Ship Cadet, who wired the field when taking the Skidmore Stakes, also at Saratoga. Another juvenile, Call Me Andy, has been Stakes-placed so far this year. Among older runners, Midshipman is also represented by two-time Stakes winner Soft Talk and Chilean Triple Crown winner, Fortino.
