Midshipman's Wink rolls to eye-catching win

Two-year-old stays perfect in Stakes debut

When Midshipman's Wink made her debut at Belmont in June, she didn't receive much support from the wagering public, but the Stonestreet-owned/Wesley Ward-trained juvenile made every call a winning one to notch career victory number one. On August 2 at Monmouth, Wink jumped right into Stakes company in the listed Colleen Stakes, but was heavily backed as the odds-on favorite and brought her record to two for two with another wire-to-wire victory.

Wink is one of 107 two-year-olds for Midshipman in 2020, that's his largest crop yet. Wink was bred in Kentucky by Tony Citarrella & RAM Racing and is out of the winning Wildcat Heir mare Dancing My Way. Wink was the highest-priced Midshipman yearling filly of 2019 bringing $110,000 at Keeneland's September Sale.

Midshipman has proven to be a consistent source of quality horses throughout his stallion career and has an impressive 16.2% Black Type horses from starters over his lifetime. That puts him among the top 12 stallions standing for under $50,000 in Kentucky. Furthermore, his 10 juvenile Black Type horses in 2019 was topped by only Into Mischief and American Pharoah.
