Midshipman mare is too good at Louisiana Downs

Is Too captures the Louisiana Cup Distaff for the second time

Midshipman's five-year-old daughter Is Too earned her third career Black Type win with a wire-to-wire victory in the mile-and-a-sixteenth Louisiana Cup Distaff Stakes on the turf at Louisiana Downs on September 19th.

This was Is Too's second consecutive win in the Louisiana Cup Distaff after she captured the same race in 2019.  She also won the Opelousas Stakes in 2019 at Evangeline Downs and has placed in four other Black Type events.  The win brings her career total to seven wins from 22 starts and earnings of $249,730.

Is Too was bred in Louisiana by J. Adcock and Montgomery Equine Center. She is out of the Stakes-placed mare, Tensas Salt (Salt Lake), who is a half-sister to Multiple Stakes winner, Tensas Harbor (Private Vow).

Midshipman continues to be a consistent sire of Black Type horses, with Is Too bringing his total of Black Type winners since July 1st to seven.  This list includes Minecraft ManiacRelentless Dancer, Firstmate, Shippy, Weekend Ride and Wink.  His 17% career Black Type horses from starters continues to be among the best in the business – no stallion under $50K can do better.
