Micheline graduates with honors in Listed Sorority Stakes

Juvenile daughter of Bernardini breaks her maiden in her Stakes debut

Micheline began the day as an untested maiden filly, but she ended it as a brand-new Stakes winner after she charged to a one-and-three-quarter-length victory in the Listed Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park Sept. 1.

Despite only having a third-place finish in a maiden special weight to her credit going into the race, Godolphin's Micheline, a two-year-old filly by Bernardini, was sent off as the heavy 4-5 favorite in the field of nine.

Content to sit off the early lead in fifth, Micheline began her move on the far turn, closing in swiftly on the leader, Life On The Edge, while racing three-wide. She quickly put away the leader in the stretch and pulled away to an easy victory.

Micheline was bred in Kentucky by Godolphin and is out of Panty Raid (by Include), winner of the G1 Juddmonte Spinster and G1 American Oaks Invitational. Panty Raid is a full sister to St. John’s River, winner of the G2 Delaware Oaks and second in the G1 Kentucky Oaks.

Bernardini has now sired over 70 Stakes winners. In addition to Micheline, Bernardini is represented by 2019 Stakes winners Capezzano (G1 Al Maktoum Challenge R3), Cherry Lodge (Ladies’ Turf Sprint Stakes), Desert Isle (Zadracarta Stakes) and Crescentcitypretty (Azalea Stakes).
