Lady Shipman makes the grade in the G3 Royal North Stakes

Daughter of Midshipman returns to form to earn her first Graded Stakes win

Lady Shipman took the lead right out of the starting gate and was never headed as she charged to a one-and-three-quarter length victory in the G3 Royal North Stakes at Woodbine.

The four-year-old daughter of Midshipman bounced back from a fifth-place finish in her previous start, the G2 Highlander Stakes. The victory at Woodbine marked the eighth different racecourse that Lady Shipman has won over. The chestnut filly has also won at Gulfstream Park, Saratoga, Belmont Park, Monmouth Park, Gulfstream Park West, Pimlico, and the Ocala Training Center.

Bred in Kentucky by owner Randall E. Lowe, Lady Shipman is out of Sumthingtotalkabt, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rules Of War and Graded Stakes-placed Nanogram. The filly's second dam is multiple Stakes winner Nannetta.

Among Midshipman’s other top runners are San Pedro Stakes winner Yiannis, Azalea Stakes winner Dearest, Riskaverse Stakes winner Stormy Regatta, and Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command
