Lady Shipman leaves them in her wake

Midshipman filly wins third career Stakes at Monmouth

While hindsight most all the time gives you 20/20 vision, Lady Shipman's third career Stakes win in the Crank It Up Stakes at Monmouth on June 6th never appeard to be in doubt from the moment the field broke from the gate. The Midshipman filly was never really threatened as she won for the fifth time in seven career starts.

Lady Shipman quickly sprinted to the lead after the start in the five and one-half furlong sprint gaining a comfortable lead by the half-mile pole. As the field made the turn for home, she maintained a clear lead and was some four lengths ahead at the wire.

Bred by Randall E. Lowe, Lady Shipman is out of Sumthingtotalkabout, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rules Of War and Graded-placed runner Nanogram. The filly's second dam is multiple Stakes winner Nannetta.

Among all third-crop sires, Midshipman currently ranks first by percentage of winners from starters. Other top runners for Midshipman include recent San Pedro Stakes winner and highly regarded Yiannis, Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, and G2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes-placed Frammento. Honored as Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old, Midshipman was the fastest-ever winner of the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Midshipman stands for $7,500, live foal, stands and nurses.
