Juvenile Stakes winner for Street Cry

Australian-bred lands Canberra's Black Opal Stakes

Street Cry's burgeoning stud career was bolstered further with another Stakes-winning juvenile, this time courtesy of Sarthemare's Listed win at Canberra in Australia on Sunday, 24 February.

Having finished second on her first start in December, the filly recently returned from an eight-week break and ran fourth just over a fortnight ago before recording her first win for the Meringo Stud Syndicate. Sarthemare is a daughter of the Citidancer mare City Liffey, herself a winner at two and three. City Liffey also has a yearling full-sister to Sarthemare.

Street Cry, sire in 2007 of G1 winners Street Sense, Cry And Catch Me, Majestic Roi and Tomcito, has made a good start to 2008 and already has G2 winner Zenyatta to his name following the four-year-old's victory in the El Encino Stakes in January.

Street Cry stands at Darley America for $100,000 alongside his treble G1-winning son Street Sense at $75,000, both Stands and Nurses terms.
