Heaven Street soars to victory in Listed Columbia Stakes

Three-year-old son of Street Sense sharp in earning first Stakes victory

Heaven Street took command in deep stretch and drew clear late to post a one-length victory in the Listed Columbia Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday, 12 March.

It was the first Stakes win for the three-year-old son of Street Sense, who was making his first start for trainer Christophe Clement.

Ridden confidently by Irad Ortiz Jr., Heaven Street raced just off the pace in third through the early stages of the one-mile turf contest. Heaven Street swung to the outside for a clear run at the leaders on the far turn, and quickly moved up challenge Grumley for the lead. After putting that rival away in deep stretch, Heaven Street easily held off the late bid of Bens Malice for the win.

Heaven Street was bred in Kentucky by Siena Farms LLC, and races for the partnership of Siena Farms and Asmussen Equine. Heaven Street is out of the winning Congrats mare, Heavenly View, who is a half-sister to multiple G2 winner Mr Freeze, G3 winners Dilemma and Heavenly Ransom, and Listed winner, Capitano.

In addition to Heaven Street, Street Sense is the sire of the exciting dual 2022 Graded Stakes winner Speaker’s Corner, who earned a 106 Beyer figure when winning the G2 Gulfstream Park Mile on March 5. Street Sense has sired 11 G1 winners, which includes millionaire and new Darley stallion, Maxfield.

Street Sense is standing the 2022 season for a fee of $75,000 stands and nurses.
