First time starter Zorina wins her debut in style at Arapahoe Park

Filly becomes the fifth winner for freshman sire Enticed

Zorina battled Long May She Run the length of the stretch before edging clear nearing the wire to earn a hard-fought head victory in a five furlong maiden special weight contest at Arapahoe Park on Saturday, 29 July.

In doing so, the two-year-old filly became the fifth winner for her freshman sire, Enticed, who was also represented over the weekend by Tambo, who broke her maiden on Friday at Del Mar.

Zorina broke alertly and settled off the pace in fourth, content to track Long May She Run and Maya D as they battled for the lead. Heading into the far turn, Zorina made a three-wide bid and moved alongside to challenge both Long May She Run and Maya D for the lead. Maya D soon dropped out leaving Zorina and Long May She Run to duke it out through the stretch, with Zorina finally edging clear nearing the wire to get the victory.

Zorina was bred in Kentucky by Lucky Larr Stable and is out of Magdalena’s Moment, a winning daughter of Harbor the Gold. She hails from the immediate family of Stakes winners Jade Flush (G2 Rare Perfume), Tenga and Royal Danzig.

Zorina is the fifth winner for her sire Enticed, joining Demar’s Legacy, Desert Sand, Tambo and Sugar Treat on the winning honor roll.

Winner of the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes and placed in the G1 Champagne (in just his second start) as a juvenile, Enticed captured the G3 Gotham and was second in the G2 Wood Memorial at age three. His first runners debut in 2023.
