Elusive Quality’s Shuruq wins G3 UAE Oaks at Meydan

27th Group / Graded winner for sire

Godolphin’s Shuruq became the 27th Group/Graded winner for sire Elusive Quality as she crossed the wire first in the G3 UAE Oaks at Meydan.  She tracked the leading trio as they came around the turn and ran on comfortably to lead two furlongs out, finishing just ahead of Godolphin stable mate Lovely Pass, who had bested Shuruq in their last start in the UAE 1,000 Guineas [L] earlier in the Carnival. Another daughter, Raihana, won the 2010 renewal of this event.

A Darley homebred, Shuruq is the first foal out of G2 winner Miss Lucifer (FR), by Noverre.  She began her career in England with trainer Saeed bin Suroor, and made the move to Dubai for the World Cup Carnival.  With this win, she earns 50 points in the Kentucky Oaks Championship Series which may lead her back overseas come spring.

Elusive Quality is the sire of 84 stakes winners worldwide including 2012 European Champion two-year-old filly Certify, G1 Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass, and Australian Champion Sepoy.

Elusive Quality stands the 2013 season at Darley America for $50,000 stands and nurses.
