Elusive Quality colt finds the answer

Questioning proves tough in G3 Earl of Sefton

Questioning ended his sophomore season on a bright note when finishing third in the G3 Darley Stakes. His first start this year gave indication that the winter was kind as he was only beaten three-quarters of a length in the Doncaster Mile. But on April 19th, the son of Elusive Quality again showed improvement when getting the better of multiple G1 winner Twice Over in the one and one-eighth mile G3 Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket.

Questioning broke alertly out of the gate and was place mid-pack most of the way by jockey William Buick. He found an opening a quarter mile from home and put in a gutsy last eighth of a mile to get the win.

Bred by Fort Barrington Stud in Ireland, Questioning is out of the winning Thunder Gulch mare Am I, a half-sister to G3 winners Certainly Classic and Mahfooth, in addition to three other stakes horses. Am I’s dam is a full sister to U.S. champion grass mare Laugh And Be Merry.

Elusive Quality is the sire of 64 career stakes winner, including 42 which have won or placed in Group company. Eight total G1 winners include Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven’s Pass, Champion Sepoy as well as Quality Road.

Elusive Quality stands for $50,000 live foals, stands and nurses.
