A Darley combination pays off at Keeneland for $1.2 million

Street Sense’s half-sister by Elusive Quality sells in foal to Street Cry

It’s not too often you have a chance to purchase a half-sister to a Kentucky Derby winner but Waratah Thoroughbreds Pty. Ltd took advantage of the situation during the second session of Keeneland’s November Breeding stock sale, buying hip number 383 for $1.2 million.

Named Elusive Sparkle, the five-year-old black type-winning daughter of Elusive Quality is a half-sister to Classic winner and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Street Sense, and she sold in foal to champion sire Street Cry. Consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, agent, the resulting foal will be her first.

Street Cry is the sire of 12 G1 winners, including the incomparable Zenyatta, other Darley stallion Street Boss, and additional 2010 G1 winners Here Comes Ben and Victor’s Cry.
