Cosmic Storm leaves rivals Starstruck after Listed win

Third Stakes victory for Street Sense mare Cosmic Storm

Lightly raced but talented Street Sense five-year-old Cosmic Storm has won her third stakes race with a come-from-behind victory in the Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m) at Ascot on December 17.

Ridden by William Pike for trainers Grant and Alana Williams, Cosmic Storm settled back in the field before weaving a passage through the field to show her middle distance prowess to prove too strong late over the 1600 metre distance.

Cosmic Endeavour won the Listed Belmont Oaks (2000m) as a three-year-old and the Starstruck Classic victory was Street Sense’s second Australian stakes winner for the day after Sense Of Occasion won the G2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

It was Cosmic Storm's sixth win from just 13 starts with prize money of more than AUD $360,000.

Bred by one of Western Australia’s leading racing operations, Peters Investments, Cosmic Storm is a previous winner of the 2015 Listed WATC Belmont Oaks. Out of the dual Group 3 winning mare Stormy Nova, Cosmic Storm also hails from the family of La Volta, a winner of the G1 Australasian Oaks.

Cosmic Storm is one of 47 stakes winners for her sire, who has also produced top performers Callback, Wedding Toast, and Street Fancy. In this year alone Street Sense’s leading progeny are headed by the likes of Street Strategy, Street of Gold, and Thatcher Street.

Street Sensewill stand the 2017 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $45,000, stands and nurses.
