Cathryn Sophia posts an impressive win in the G1 Kentucky Oaks

Daughter of Street Boss becomes sire's fourth winner at the highest level

While some thought the nine-furlong distance might be too much for Street Boss's talented daughter Cathryn Sophia, she proved all the naysayers wrong with an electrifying performance in the 2016 G1 Kentucky Oaks on May 6th at Churchill Downs. She joins Danza and Capo Bastone as the three North American winners for her sire at the highest level.

Cathryn Sophia broke sharply out of the gate and was positioned well in a stalking position in fourth as the field rounded the first turn and made their way into the backstretch. Moving along willingly approaching the far turn, Cathryn Sophia then went four wide but quickly pulled away as the field turned for home. She kept her distance under constant urging and was three lengths clear when the field hit the wire.

Bred in Maryland by Robert T. Manfuso, Cathryn Sophia is out of Sheave, an unraced daughter of Horse of the Year Mineshaft. Sheave is out of G2 Golden Rod Stakes winner Belterra, and is a half-sister to Stakes winner Taketheodds (by Street Sense).

Street Boss continues to be a consistent source of quality runners exemplified by a total of 11 Group or Graded winners worldwide. In addition to the aforementioned G1 winners Danza and Capo Bastone, his son The Quarterback entered the ranks of G1 winners with his victory in the Newmarket Handicap in March in Australia. In the U.S., no sire standing for under $20,000 had more blacktype winners in all of 2015.

Street Boss stands the 2016 season for a fee of $12,500 stands and nurses.
