Aubby K aces G1 Humana Distaff

Street Sense filly wins on Kentucky Derby undercard

Aubby K, from the first crop of Street Sense, asserted herself in the G1 Humana Distaff May 4 and earned her first victory at the highest level. Off to a great 2013, the four-year-old filly was entering after an impressive win in the G2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 17.

In the seven-furlong race at Churchill Downs, Aubby K stalked the pace on the outside. Rounding the turn she took on the lead and cleared away in the stretch to secure the G1 win.

A homebred for James C. Spence, Aubby K is out of the G3 winner Lily Capote, who is also the dam of G2-placed horses Flying Pegasus and Mythical Pegasus, and Stakes-placed America’s Storm.

The victory on the Kentucky Derby undercard for Aubby K was appropriate, as her sire Street Sense took the Run for the Roses in 2007. The leading third-crop sire in the United States, Street Sense is off to an incredible year in 2013. In addition to Aubby K, his three-year-old daughter Unlimited Budget is a three-time Graded Stakes winner who placed in the G1 Kentucky Oaks just one day prior. His son Cigar Street also recently impressed in the G3 Skip Away Stakes at Gulfstream.
