Athena skims the rail to take the Listed American Beauty Stakes

Daughter of Street Sense now two-for-two in 2017

Athena drove up along the inside rail, battled with Marquee Miss in the stretch on her way to taking the Listed American Beauty Stakes by three-quarters of a length at Oaklawn Park January 28.

The victory was the second of the year for the five-year-old mare by Street Sense, who has now finished in the money in twelve of twenty starts.

Bred in Kentucky by Gary Chervenell, Athena is out of the unraced Rock of Gibraltar mare Race Rocks, and hails from the female family of Peeping Tom, winner of the G1 Carter Handicap, and Traitor, winner of the G1 Futurity Stakes.

Athena is one of 47 stakes winners for her sire, who has produced such top performers as Callback, Wedding Toast, and Street Fancy

Street Sense will stand the 2017 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $45,000, stands and nurses.
