Ambassadorial takes command in the Star Appeal Stakes

Juvenile son of Elusive Quality now unbeaten in two lifetime starts

Godolphin’s Ambassadorial made it two wins from two career starts when he rallied from off the pace to win the Listed Star Appeal Stakes at Dundalk Racecourse.

Patiently ridden by jockey Shane Foley, Ambassadorial was settled in sixth through the early stages of the seven-furlong contest. With just over a furlong to run, Foley asked him for more and the son of Elusive Quality responded, sweeping past longtime leader Oh Grace to win by one-and-a-half lengths.

Bred in Kentucky by Darley, Ambassadorial is out of Tactfully, a winning daughter of fellow Darley stallion, Discreet Cat. Tactfully’s second dam is the multiple Graded Stakes winner Parade Queen (G3 Mrs. Revere Stakes, G3 Joe Namath Stakes), and she hails from the immediate family of Bodemeister (G1 Arkansas Derby, second in G1 Kentucky Derby, G1 Preakness.

Elusive Quality is the sire of 14 G1 winners lifetime, including such standouts as Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Australian Champion Sepoy, and Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass.
