Emphatic blazes to victory in G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies

Daughter of Nyquist locks up her claim for the Eclipse Award

Emphatic made yet another grand impression on the racetrack as she steamrolled her way to a one-and-a-half length victory in the $2 million, G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Keeneland Oct. 30.

The two-year-old daughter of Nyquist, who remains undefeated in four starts, locked up Championship honors with the victory, much like two other daughters of Nyquist did – Vequist in 2020, and Immersive in 2022.

Emphatic raced in second throughout the early stages of the race, content to let Lexi’s Charm zip to the front to set the pace. Emphatic and Tyler Gaffalione continued to track Lexi’s Charm into the far turn, where they suddenly displayed a sharp turn-of-foot, shooting past the longtime leader to take command. Emphatic continued to open up her advantage into the stretch, easily holding off a belated rally from Miss Monica to win easily.

Bred in Pennsylvania by Jon A. Marshall, Emphatic is out of the unraced Tiznow mare, Convinced, and is a full sister to Stakes-placed Wesawtaylorinparis. The immediate family also includes Eclipse Champion sprinter, Rubiano, leading sire Tapit, and multiple Graded Stakes winner Madefromlucky.

Emphatic is one of three G1 winners this year for her sire Nyquist, joining Knightsbridge (G1 Pacific Classic) and Nysos (G1 Met Mile), and is one of 13 Stakes winners overall in 2026. Nyquist is also the sire of Immersive (G2 Fleur de Lis), Growth Equity (G3 Peter Pan), Iron Honor (G3 Gotham Stakes), and David of Athens (G3 Jebel Ali Mile).

Nyquist will stand the 2027 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for a fee of $225,000, stands and nurses.
