Odenkirk has the last laugh in Woodbine’s Display Stakes

Juvenile colt by Nyquist wires the field in his Stakes debut

Odenkirk remained perfect in two starts and notched his first Stakes victory when going gate-to-wire to win the $125,000 Display Stakes by six lengths at Woodbine Oct. 11.

With the victory, the two-year-old colt became the 45th Stakes winner for his sire, Nyquist.

The start of the race was delayed slightly when Quipster acted up in the starting gate and was scratched by the veterinarian. The field, now reduced to four runners, was soon reloaded and the race was on, with Odenkirk breaking on top and taking command of the race.

Odenkirk showed the way through :23.37 and :46.58 quarters before kicking clear in the stretch to win by five and three-quarter lengths. Uncle Dodo, winner of the Victoria Stakes July 12, rallied from last to score runner-up honors.

Odenkirk was bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms and was purchased for $130,000 by D.J. Stable at the 2025 Keeneland September yearling sale. He is out of the multiple Stakes-winning and Graded Stakes-placed mare, Astrollinthepark (Divine Park), who herself is a half sister to G1 winner Hard Aces (Hard Spun) and Graded Stakes winner, Mashallah (Maxfield).

Odenkirk is one of 12 Stakes winners this year for his sire, Nyquist, who is represented by 2026 Grade 1 winners Emphatic (Darley Alcibiades), Knightsbridge (Pacific Classic), and Nysos (Met Mile). Nyquist is also the sire of Immersive (G2 Fleur de Lis), Growth Equity (G3 Peter Pan), Iron Honor (G3 Gotham Stakes), and David of Athens (G3 Jebel Ali Mile).
