Measure gets the measure of her rivals in Churchill MSW

Becomes the 15th winner for her sire Essential Quality

Essential Quality's two-year-old daughter Measure became the 15th winner for her freshman sire with a strong victory in an 8.5-furlong dirt maiden special weight at Churchill Downs on November 6.

Measure broke well but was content to settle at the back of the pack and was caught wide around the first turn. She remained at the rear of the field down the backstretch but made a huge four-wide move around the far turn and had two horses to beat at the top of the stretch before hitting the lead at the sixteenth pole and pulling away for a two-length score.

Bred in Kentucky by Town & Country Farms, Measure is out of the Eskenderya mare Fateer and is a half-sister to G3 San Gabriel winner Bob and Jackie and to G2 Golden Rod runner-up Knockyoursocksoff.

Two-time Eclipse Award winner Essential Quality's 15 first-crop winners also include Nashua Stakes winner My World, Ellis Park Debutante winner Chopsticks, Clever Trevor Stakes winner Essential Time, plus Keeneland debut MSW winner Confessional (85 Beyer), Saratoga debut MSW winner Aye Eye, recent seven-length Gulfstream MSW winner Bull by the Horns, and yesterday's six-length Parx MSW winner River Escape.

Essential Quality will stand the 2026 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $25,000, stands and nurses.
