Hard Spun’s Runaway Again did just that in the Prince of Wales Stakes!

Three-year-old surges late to win the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown

Following a breakout debut win by nine and one-quarter lengths at Woodbine, a troubled start hindered any chance for Hard Spun's Runaway Again in his next start, the King's Plate. Fast forward to the Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie on September 10 and the story played out differently as the three-year-old fought courageously to turn the table on King's Plate winner Manzetti for the win in the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Never worse than fourth throughout the early stages of the race, Runaway Again appeared bound for second place as Manzetti went up by two lengths ta the top of the lane. But nearing the wire, Runaway Again cut loose with an incredible late turn of foot to run down the favorite for the victory.

Runaway Again was bred in Kentucky by Adena Springs. He is out of the Storm Cat mare Golden Venus, she a half to Eclipse Champion two-year-old and G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Macho Uno and G1 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Awesome Again.

Runaway Again is one of 15 Stakes performers for Hard Spun in 2025 whose other current-year runners include the sire of G2 winner Gas Me Up, G3 winner Elysian Field in addition to Listed winner and G1-placed Highway Robber
