A Z Warrior gives Bernardini second G1 winner on same day

Wins G1 Frizette following Biondetti's win earlier in the Gran Criterium in Italy

Just about eight hours after siring his first G1 winner from his first crop of two-year-olds, Bernardini was represented by his second winner at the highest level as daughter A Z Warrior impressively won the G1 Frizette at Belmont on October 9.

Quickest out of the gate, A Z Warrior was content to lay just off the leader biding her time in second and then sprinted to the lead at the top of the stretch. Jockey Alan Garcia never had to go to the whip as A Z Warior was "geared down" to win by two lengths.

A Z Warrior is out of the Stakes-placed Carson City mare Carson Jen, now dam of five winners from five foals to race including G1 King's Bishop third and G3 winner E Z Warrior and fellow Stakes winner J Z Warrior.

Bernardini, the best three-year-old in the world in 2006 and the first horse since Damascus to win the Preakness, Travers and Jockey Club Gold Cup in the same year, was rewarded with an outstanding first book of mares that included no fewer than 64 G1 winners or producers.
