Wonder Gadot runs away with the Prince of Wales Stakes

Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro beats the boys to take second jewel of Canadian Triple Crown

Wonder Gadot went wire to wire en route to a dominant six-length victory in the $400,000 Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie Race Track on July 24, becoming the first horse since Wando in 2003 to win the first two legs of the Canadian Triple Crown, and the first filly to do so since Dance Smartly in 1991.

The three-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, who was runner-up by a half-length to Monomoy Girl in the G1 Kentucky Oaks in May, entered the Prince of Wales off a five-length win in the $1,000,000 Queen’s Plate at Woodbine on June 30.

Bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms, LLC, Wonder Gadot is out of the winning Vindication mare, Loving Vindication.  Wonder Gadot, who was named Canada’s Champion Two-Year-Old Filly in 2017, is a full sister to Stakes winner Solemn Tribute, and she hails from the immediate family of Chimichurri, winner of the G3 Tempted Stakes, Champion Mashaallah and Folk Art, winner of the G1 Oak Leaf Stakes.

In addition to Wonder Gadot, Medaglia d’Oro is the sire of 2018 Graded Stakes winners Bolt d’Oro (G2 San Felipe), Enticed (G3 Gotham Stakes) and Gyllen (G2     Prix Eugene Adam).  He was the sire of seven G1 winners in 2017 – the only other American stallions to have as many in a single year are Mr. Prospector, Danzig and Storm Cat.  His G1 winners last year included two Breeders’ Cup winners – Talismanic (Turf) and Bar Of Gold (Filly & Mare Sprint).
