Wonder Gadot dominates her rivals in the G2 Demoiselle Stakes

Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro pulls away in the stretch to win easily

Wonder Gadot earned her second Graded Stakes win with a powerful, three-and-a-half length victory in the G2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct December 2.

Ridden confidently by jockey John Velazquez, the two-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro sat just off the flank of the frontrunning Daisy through the early stages of the race. As the field raced through the far turn, Wonder Gadot joined Daisy on the lead. The pair matched strides briefly before Wonder Gadot took command and eventually drew off through the stretch for the easy win.

It was the second Graded Stakes win on the Aqueduct card for a Darley-sired runner, as Bernardini’s four-year-old daughter Indulgent captured the G3 Go For Wand Stakes earlier in the day.

Bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms, LLC, Wonder Gadot is out of the winning Vindication mare, Loving Vindication. Wonder Gadot is a full sister to Stakes winner Solemn Tribute, and she hails from the immediate family of Chimichurri, winner of the G3 Tempted Stakes, Champion Mashaallah and Folk Art, winner of the G1 Oak Leaf Stakes.

Medaglia d’Oro is the sire of seven G1 winners in 2017, more than any other stallion in North America. His G1 winners this year include two Breeders’ Cup winners – Talismanic (Turf) and Bar Of Gold (Filly & Mare Sprint). Medaglia d’Oro is also the sire of the G1-winning three-year-old fillies New Money Honey and Elate; turf mare Dickinson; two-time G1 winning juvenile Bolt d’Oro; and two-time Eclipse Champion Songbird.

Medaglia d’Oro will stand the 2018 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $250,000.
