What Doldrums?

Street Cry colt Summer Doldrums proves his name all wrong when winning the Listed Presque Isle Mile Stakes

Street Cry colt, Summer Doldrums recorded his sixth victory on Friday when winning the Listed Presque Isle Mile S.

Already a G3 winner, he was having his second start at the track following a 12-length Allowance cruise. Settled near the rear early, he was delivered in the stretch to score by three-quarters-of-a-length, in the process taking his career earnings to over $850,000.

Bred by Gentry Stables, he is out of the Stakes placed Unaccounted For mare, Dance For Dixie and from the family of top European Sprinter Var. She has also foaled a full-brother to Summer Doldrums in 2008 so there is plenty to look forward to.

This was the perfect start to a potentially huge weekend for Street Cry who has leading fancies in two G1 events, Zenyatta in the Vanity H and Street Boss in the Triple Bend Invitational H.
