Vigilantes Way wires the Tropical Park Oaks

Medaglia d'Oro filly earns first Stakes victory

Medaglia d'Oro's three-year-old daughter Vigilantes Way became the newest Stakes winner for her sire with a wire-to-wire victory in the Tropical Park Oaks on December 26th at Gulfstream Park.

Breaking sharply under jockey Julien Leparoux, Vigilantes Way went straight to the lead in the mile-and-a-sixteenth turf contest and never looked back, pulling away in the stretch to a two-and-a-quarter-length win.  It was her first Stakes victory after placing in the Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico and the Winter Memories Stakes at Aqueduct in her two previous starts.

Bred in Kentucky by her owner, Phipps Stable, Vigilantes Way is out of the multiple Graded Stakes-placed Unbridled mare Salute, a daughter of Champion and multiple G1 producer Personal Ensign.  Vigilante's Way is a half-sister to G1 winner Mr. Speaker, G3 winner Fire Away, and G3-placed Snap Decision.

Vigilantes Way is the 147th career Black Type winner for Medaglia d'Oro.  His other top performers in 2020 include recent G1 Hong Kong Mile winner Golden Sixty, his 26th career G1 winner, along with multiple G3 winner Souper Escape, and G3 winner North Dakota.  Medaglia d'Oro had four yearlings bring $1 million or more at the sales this year, bringing his total number of seven-figure yearlings in the past five years to 20 - more than any other stallion.

Medaglia d'Oro will stand the 2021 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $150,000, stands and nurses.
