Two new Stakes winners at Meydan for Hard Spun

Top Score takes Meydan Classic, Nomorerichblondes lands G3 UAE Oaks

It was a banner day at Meydan for Hard Spun on February 23rd, as his three-year-old son Top Score won the Listed Meydan Classic, then two races later his three-year-old daughter Nomorerichblondes captured the G3 UAE Oaks.

Godolphin’s Top Score earned his first stakes victory in the Listed Meydan Classic going seven furlongs on the turf.  Near the back of the pack through most of the race, Top Score burst through an opening along the rail and closed strongly through the stretch to prevail by a half-length over Fly at Dawn.

Bred by Darley in England, Top Score is out of the Elusive Quality mare Windsor County, a full sister to G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven’s Pass.

Two races later, Nomorerichblondes held off a challenge in the stretch to get her first career stakes victory in the G3 UAE Oaks.  She had previously finished second in the Listed UAE 1000 Guineas at Meydan on February 9th.

Bred in Kentucky by Blue Devil Racing LLC, Nomorerichblondes is out of the stakes-placed Unbridled’s Song mare Miss Luann.

The victories by Top Score and Nomorerichblondes brings Hard Spun’s total of 2017 black-type winners to four, a tally that can only be matched by Tapit and Curlin.  In addition, Nomorerichblondes became Hard Spun’s third Graded Stakes winner in 2017, a total which can only be matched by Curlin.

Hard Spun is standing the 2017 season at Jonabell Farm for $45,000, stands and nurses.
