A Thread Of Blue weaves a winning tale in G3 Palm Beach Stakes

Son of Hard Spun rallies from off the pace to earn his first Graded Stakes victory

A Thread Of Blue rallied from off the pace to win the G3 Palm Beach Stakes by three-quarters of a length at Gulfstream Park March 2.

It was the second straight Stakes victory for the three-year-old son of Hard Spun, who captured the Listed Dania Beach Stakes in February.

Breaking alertly under jockey Luis Saez, A Thread Of Blue sat just behind the leaders in third through the early stages of the race. As the field entered the far turn, A Thread Of Blue made his move, drawing even with leader King Ottokar while racing three-wide.

A Thread Of Blue put away King Ottokar at the top of the lane, then repelled the late bid of Casa Creed to win by three-quarters of a length.

Bred in Kentucky by Flaxman Holdings Limited, A Thread Of Blue is out of the Seeking the Gold mare, Enthused. Winner of the G2 Lowther Stakes during her career, Enthused is also the dam of Norman Invader (G3 Round Tower Stakes) and Ea (Coyote Lakes Stakes). A Thread Of Blue’s second dam is Magic Of Life, winner of the G1 Coronation Stakes.

Hard Spun has sired over 60 career Stakes winners including 31 which have won in Group company, nine of those G1 winners. The stallion is the sire of the exciting three-year-old colt Hidden Scroll, who won his career debut by 14 lengths January 26 at Gulfstream Park. The Juddmonte Farms’ homebred will be a fun colt to follow on the 2019 Triple Crown trail.

Hard Spun is standing the 2019 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $40,000, stands and nurses.
