Third Stakes win for Skytrain

Son of Lonhro takes out the G3 Southern Cross Stakes at Warwick Farm in Australia

With the track being downgraded to a Heavy 10 due to the constant downpours throughout the day, Lonhro gelding Skytrain was backed into one of the favoured runners due to his liking of wet tracks.

Jumping away well from a wide gate and settling back in the field, jockey Josh Parr allowed the gelding to work down the outside of the field to defeat the dual G1 winner Streama, taking out his third Stakes race with victory in the G3 Southern Cross Stakes over 6f.

The epitome of consistency, Skytrain has finished in the top three on 20 occasions, having earned connections just shy of AUS$700,000 in career earnings.

Bred by Woodlands Stud, Skytrain is out of the Luskin Star mare Que Sera Sera, the dam of four Stakes winners to date including G2 winner Manana, dual Listed winner Accept and Listed winner Omens. From the family of Commands’ G1 winner Erewhon, Skytrain is one of 36 Stakes winners for his Champion sire.

As the sire of G1 winners Mental, Beaded, Champion two-year-old Pierro as well as Darley stallions Benfica and Denman, Lonhro is standing the current season at $30,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
