Third Group success for Seradess today at Morphettville

Flying filly by Astern adds more Black Type with second Adelaide victory in two weeks

Seradess won her fourth Stakes race, the third at Group level, and again showed her love for the Morphettville track in Adelaide on Saturday, 21 May when she blitzed a quality field of fillies and mares in the G3 Proud Miss Stakes over 1,200m.

Only a fortnight after leading all the way to win the G2 Tobin Bronze Stakes at the same track over 1,100m, Seradess repeated the effort with Craig Williams aboard to beat I Am Bene by nearly three lengths with Gimme Par another 0.6 lengths further back in third place.

Williams allowed the daughter of Astern">Astern and Obsidian Dragon full rein at the 600m pole and Seradess was never in danger, winning her third race with one placing from just four starts at the track.

The three-year-old, a winner of the G3 Scarborough Stakes (1200m) and the Listed Cinderella Stakes (1050m) last year, took her record to five wins and two placings from only 10 starts for prize money and bonuses of $474,795 for co-trainers Mark and Levi Kavanagh.

Mark Kavanagh paid $50,000 for the filly offered by Mill Park Stud, Meningie at the 2020 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Sail By and Danger Strykes are other Stakes winners by Astern, who won five races - including the 2016 Golden Rose at G1 level - and was placed twice during his short nine-start career.
