Terrific twenty

Spun Yarn, by Hard Spun, wins at Delaware Park

Hard Spun witnessed his 20th two-year-old winner November 2 when his daughter Spun Yard took her debut at Delaware Park by a strong two lengths. In the six furlong race the filly was up early to stalk the pacesetters. Going into the turn she swung four wide and dueled with leaders before pulling away in the stretch to seal the win.

Bred by I McMoney LLC, Spun Yarn is the first foal for Ms. Preacher Brown, by Coronado’s Quest. The filly’s second dam is Graded Stakes winner Watch, a full-sister to War Thief, also a Graded Stakes winner. Ms. Preacher Brown has a yearling colt by Hard Spun as well.

Hard Spun is off to a terrific start at stud from his first group of runners in 2011. A winner of the G1 King’s Bishop Stakes at Saratoga, Hard Spun is the sire of six Stakes horses to date from his first crop. They include G2 winner Red Duke, Listed Stakes winners Hard Not To Like and Yvete Sangalo, as well as three other Graded/Group-placed runners.
