Street Cry's Majeyda takes Montrose Fillies' Stakes in style

Second Stakes win for two-year-old filly

Sent off as the favorite November 2 in Newmarket's Listed Montrose Fillies' Stakes, Street Cry's two-year-old daughter Majeyda took the race in effortless fashion. It was the second Stakes win for the filly, who impressed in the Star Stakes at Sandown back in July, before finishing runner-up in the G2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

In the one-mile turf event Majeyda traveled in behind runners off the pace. The filly took off when asked and cleared away an easy winner.

Majeyda is out of the classy racemare Alzerra, a winner of the G3 Cornwallis Stakes who also placed in the G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes. Alzerra is out of G1-placed Belle Argentine, who is a half-sister to Graded-placed Matloob. The filly was bred by Darley.

The sire of 68 Stakes winners around the world, Street Cry has been represented by 36 Stakes performers in 2013 alone. Among his 14 G1 winners is renowned Horse Of The Year Zenyatta, G1 Kentucky Derby winner and sire Street Sense, and multiple G1 winner Street Boss. His most recent winner at the highest level is Long John, who won the G1 Caulfield Guineas in October.
